Review on couples material.
Many Christian study materials for Couples studies (relationship
lessons) focus on the theoretical, rather than the practical, and
easily leave participants disenchanted, that it is really difficult to
get anywhere.
Among the practical relationship resources, (and not necessarily have
an explicitly Christian flavor), such as "Mars and Venus" series, the
author focus on the "differences" between the sexes, and start the
steps toward mutual understanding. Dr. Laura Schlessinger's
style, of rather than portraying two personalities "Mars and Venus",
instead focus on one sex, but yet show through the myriad of examples
and case studies that everyone's situation is different, and yet
similar.
However, while all the good material recognizes the differences between
personalities, none practice what they preach, in the sense that the
workbook is still written toward one particular type. They have
yet to address say 4 personality types with 4 different approaches in
one single book.
Hence my revelation that to have a successful couples studies, it is
essential to have a combination of books and materials that can address
simultaneously the different personality types, so that one of these
voices will speak engagingly and effectively to each participant.
